Our books are currently open for Plan Managed and Self Managed NDIS clients in Kingborough, The Chanel and Huon areas
Chatty Cat works with primarily a paediatric caseload (children 0-12 years), with some therapy places for older clients who are emergent communicators/complex communicators (e.g. clients with an intellectual disability or with significant support needs or AAC users).
At this stage Chatty Cat is only taking on clients who are NDIS and either Plan managed and Self Managed. This may change in the future though.
Working with children in their familiar environments supports children to feel more comfortable, engage in communication tasks with familiar people, better carry-over from therapy into every day life. It also means that the child misses less school, and families with multiple children at home don’t need to try and take them all with them to appointments and sit in waiting rooms.
Yes! We LOVE having siblings join in sessions! Sibling and family play is fantastic for building social skills and communication skills, as well as strengthening positive family connections.
In some families, siblings are fantastic teachers, and can enjoy learning ways to interact with their sibling, and having a special role in helping their sibling learn to communicate. In other families, the child in therapy might be the ‘teacher’ and having them ‘teach their sibling’ can be a great way to work on therapy goals.
Absolutely! We recognise that every family is unique, and each family has their own living and care arrangements. Chatty Cat is able to see your child across multiple locations, providing they are within our radius. These might include- parents/caregiver's home, grandparent’s home, adult sibling’s home, foster/respite home, school, daycare etc. We of course require that a caregiver over the age of 18 be present for all sessions.
